Gender Reassignment

Employers must not discriminate against a person on the grounds of gender reassignment under the Sex Discrimination (Gender Reassignment) Regulations 1999. This is commonly known as a 'sex change’ and it occurs when an individual:

  • plans to undergo a sex change
  • is in the process of sex change
  • has had a sex change

With regard to employment, individuals must be treated the same for all purposes such as recruitment, promotion training discipline and all other terms and conditions of employment.
